What Happens in a Sculpt Pilates Class?
A Sculpt Pilates class blends Pilates mat work with light weights and props, such as a Pilates ball, Pilates ring, yoga block, booty band and ankle weights, all VATA Studios branded and available to purchase. Most classes warm up with breath and core activation, move through standing and mat work such as lunges, squats and arm sequences, and finish with a stretch.
The movements are small, slow and deliberate, often with pulses and holds at the hardest point, so your muscles work hard without jumping or jarring. Your teacher cues alignment throughout, and you can choose lighter weights, or none, whenever you need to.
At VATA Studios, Sculpt runs in a Warm (32°C) or Hot (40°C) room, and the light weights add load without a machine.

Sculpt Pilates FAQs
Yes, if you take the lighter options. Sculpt Pilates is low-impact and your teacher cues each movement, but the weights and repetitions make it a step up from the basics. Never done Pilates? A Classical Pilates class or two will help you find your core first, and a Warm (32°C) class is the gentler way into heat.
Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded machine for resistance and support. Sculpt Pilates at VATA Studios is mat-based: light weights and your own bodyweight provide the load, and the warmth helps you move with range. VATA Studios has no reformers, so if you specifically want one, we’re happy to point you to a reformer studio.
Sculpt uses light weights alongside your mat and bodyweight, and some classes add small props such as a Pilates ring or ball. The weights stay light on purpose: precise, controlled repetitions with good form matter more here than lifting heavy.
Sculpt Pilates runs in a Warm (32°C) or Hot (40°C) room, depending on the class, and the timetable shows which. Infrared panels warm the room without blowing hot air. New to heated classes? Start warm, bring a towel and water, and rest whenever you need to.
